Sorry this isn't about golf, but I just came back from the Sox vs. Angels game at Fenway last night and Big Papi crushed a monsterous Grand Salami right over my head! This was my second game in Fenway in as many years and we won both in dramatic fashion. Last year Coco Crisp laid out for a diving grab in the 8th inning to preserve a win. Always good to be home.
Sure, Tiger won his 13th major and did it in less time than Jack, but other players stole the spotlight.
Names like John Daly and Woody Austin were the focus of most of the cameras. Big John stole the first round lead and the headlines on Thurs. Tiger did get in there on Friday with a record tying round (and probably would have stolen the whole weekend if his putt on 18 hadn't lipped out). But, when all was said and done Woody had all the attention. He and Els were the ones who had attacked Tiger on Sunday.
The public loves a winner like Tiger, but they love an affable character like Austin. He is faulty, he bends putters over his head when he makes a poor shot. Most importantly, he is an average every day guy. He looks, dresses, acts, and lives just like the rest of us. That's why we love'em- Daly, Austin, and the rest.
That's what made the PGA Championship this year. The regular guys rose up, challenged the wonder kid, and almost got him.
Did anyone see Graeme Storm today? Why have we never heard of this guy before? His has a great swing and was all over the stick today. He could have easily been 8 under! I'll be interested to see what he does tomorrow.
I am trying to help my game and one of the ways I'd like to do that is to have anyone who knows a thing or two about golf to look at my swing and give me some helpful advice of ways I can improve it. Please help me!
