Organized Scattered Creative Stagnant Published Rejected Compassionate Critical

I am in my late thirties. I am (currently and temporarily) a stay at home mom/maid. Before that, I was a graphic designer for an airline’s inflight magazine. I live in Seattle with my husband, Jay, who’s an attorney for a large downtown firm and our two kids, Fruit Bat, who’s a four-year-old boy and Kitty Cat, a two-year-old girl.

I write things. Mostly fiction. I’ve been published in a handful of small literary journals like Night Train and The Florida Review. I am looking for representation for my manuscript, The Goodness of Meredith Beam.

Tidbits: Besides a nice crisp apple, I hate all fruit. Grapes are eyeballs and peaches are kidneys. Oddly, I love slimy olives and avacados. I have an irrational bird phobia that did not originate from Hitchcock’s The Birds. I am 6 feet, 2 inches tall. In shoes, I am nearly 6’4”. I shamefully swoon for hiphop and celebrity gossip. I love to eat a cookie and wash it down with a beer. I have suffered through two nose jobs. The first was to shorten and straighten my big, lumpy schnoz. The second was to fix the first.

There are so many things I wannabe: more outdoorsy, a shunner of chocolate and all things sweet, a lover of extreme exercise, a wood splitter, more logical, good at math, endlessly patient. I am none of these.

But I do enjoy clothes, black coffee, fresh air, sunshine, beaches, mountains, reading, writing, my fluffy, naughty cat, a good vanilla candle, cooking dinner while sipping a glass of wine and listening to Dave Brubeck, my family, watching my children frolic in grassy fields, connecting with my husband, crate and barrel placemats and expensive paper products.
