So, I'm sitting here right now, aware of some movie on the TV that is on in the same room as my computer. I have no idea what the movie is---I haven't been paying any attention, really. But I just glanced up and saw this very cliche' scene:
A man and a woman---who are acquaintances and not yet in love, though you know that in a matter of minutes they will be--- are on the run, hiding from people who are chasing them. As the chasers approach, the man and the woman "hide" by engaging in a passionate kiss. The chasers are completely duped, and the man and the woman are safe.
Okay. So. Um....
Have you ever done something like this? (If so, you MUST tell the story!!!)
Would you not recognize two people that you were chasing, just because they were kissing? "Oh, wow, I wonder where those two went---all I see is people who look exactly like them who are making-out, so it couldn't POSSIBLY be them. They've just vanished!" I guess what I'm saying is, would the kissing really throw you off?
Have you ever fantasized about doing that? (Oh, shut up. Of course you have. This isn't really a question.)
Is it an effective tactic in the movies, or does it drive you crazy in its over-used-ness?
Okay, ready! Set! SPILL!

Ummm... I guess if it made you feel awkward about "watching" them-- you might not get too close of a look and realize that it was who you were chasing. But hey, I never get tired of those type of scenes, so keep it.

oh man don't get me started on all the things that have blocked me. one time i was chasing somebody through the streets of copenhagen. i turned a corner, and all i saw was this dude tying his shoelaces. i asked him if he'd seen a guy looking similar to himself, but he hadn't. then there was the time i was chasing this woman in budapest. i was hot on her heels, but then as i was about to grab her jacket hood, i stumbled over a rock. she got to the other side of the bridge, and as i, too, crossed the bridge, all i could see was a hotdog vendor. now the strange thing was not only was the vendor a doppleganger for the woman i was chasing, but people in budapest don't even eat hotdogs. so that was that thwarted. then i was chasing a poodle through the streets of brussels. i know i saw the thing go into a newsagents, but when *i* went in the shop, all i saw was a poodle reading a newspaper. now the poodle *i* had been chasing can't read, so it *couldn't* have been the same poodle. it was then i decided to give up chasing.
