I live in the Pacific Northwest with my four children and husband in a purple bungalow surrounded by elderly farmers who think Dubya will sit at the right hand of God in heaven. We're the "weird hippies" which is funny considering our minivan and my penchant for IKEA-style interior decorating. Maybe it's because the kids don't go to school and run around naked in the yard in 50-degree weather. Maybe it's because I don't wear pants. Maybe it's because my husband has long hair. Who knows. We do though live near a great little progressive town. It's the place that started granting same-sex marriage certificates in spite of the state legislature's refusal to legalize it. I can also breastfeed in public there without anyone batting an eye. So I guess I ought to count my blessings.

I like tenacious d, the x-files, 24, throwing muses, theoretical physics, scented flowers, pesto, mysticism, vernacular and green architecture, the be good tanyas, fancy cupcakes, totoro, exposing myths about fat, homebirth, people who are nice to their kids, folk dancing, swing dancing, peppermint ice cream, martha stewart, leonard cohen, c.s. lewis, fog, rainbow things, fairy lights, anything that sparkles, the color blue-violet, zakka, and striped socks.

I don't like artificial scents, pulp mills, mice, primary colors, daffodils, coffee, turtlenecks, and bigots.
