A recent incident with our local sheriff's department in which I was treated very poorly by a cop, in my opinion, has prompted me to ask this question. I had an expired tag and was unaware of it, but felt like he thought I had just robbed a convenience store or something. To make matters worse, I had my 4 year old in the car with me. I'll spare you all the details for now, but in my typical fashion, I have to laugh at the situation. So I came up with part of a song, set to Waylon Jennings (I think?) tune,"Momma's Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys". OK, here goes:
"Mommas don't let your babies grow up to be Po Po, don't pick on women with kids in the car, be nice and maybe you'll get a gold star" I still need to work on it some.
Or how about this, a help wanted ad for cops would go something like this:
"Do you have a chip on your shoulder? Perhaps your ego is the size of Texas and you enjoy throwing your weight around while you are power-tripping? If so, this may be the job for you. Just imagine, you could enjoy the privilege of running up and down your local community streets being inconsiderate of your fellow citizens and not get fired for it! The best part, you even get to carry a gun."
I am starting a weekly contest on my new blog, "Missy's Memos". This is the first feature.
Mrs. Clark was reading a book to her daughter Mikayla the other night in which a mysterious bunny dance was described. Upon further research, she found this info about hares:
"The saying "mad as a March hare" refers to the wild caperings of hares as the males fight over the females in the early spring, then attempt to mate with them. Since the females often rebuff the males' advances before finally succumbing, the mating behavior often looks like a crazy dance; these fights led early observers to believe that the advent of spring made the hares "mad."[2] This bold behavior makes the hares, normally timid and retiring animals, much more conspicuous to human observation in the spring."
This is the first of our Friday Fun Furry Facts posts. Please join us with an unusual animal fact of your own and you may be selected to receive a discount from Mrs. Clark's Critters new webiste that week. Just leave your fun fact in the comments on Missy's Memos blog. Oh, and let us know how to get in touch with you so we can let you know if you win. Thanks!
I used to live down the road from a church that always had some clever saying out front on the marquee.
The other day I passed one I thought was good and wanted to share it here that said, "Aspire to Inspire before you Expire".
I hope I can be an inspiration to my kids.
I wanted to give a little buzzlove to my friend Trysh over in the crafting community on Cre8buzz.
Back in December we were discussing men's jewelry. I was trying to think of a unique gift for my hubby and told her he liked Native American things. Then I got busy with Christmas and life in general and temporarily forgot our conversation.
A week or so ago I was thinking about Trysh when a couple of days later, lo and behold she messages me about a Kokopelli key ring she's made and wants to give me as a gift! And just when I was thinking of doing random acts of kindness for others, someone does one for me! http://www.cre8buzz.com/profiles/1225/galleries/8096/gallery_entries/26615
That's the link to a photo on her profile.
The keyring arrived today and I must say she does superb work! I'm keeping it for myself!
If you are looking for a beautiful one of a kind gift, Trysh is certainly the woman to talk to. Not only does she do awesome work, she is one of the kindest people I've met here on the Buzz.
Thanks a bunch, Trysh!
Yesterday afternoon my 4-year-old daughter, Mikayla and I went on our first picnic of the season. Our local library and children’s park has a nice area out in front designed for just such an occasion. We live in northwest Florida, and it is starting to warm up enough to get out and really enjoy ourselves. It is still cool in the shade and warm in the sun. We opted for a sunny bench overlooking the putting green to eat our lunch from Wendy’s.
Afterwards, we walked over to the children’s park so Mikayla could slide and ride, eventually making our way around to the ever popular sandbox. After a few minutes there were four other little girls who had joined in the sandcastle-making fun while I watched from my comfy spot on one of the swings provided for us old farts. As I glanced around at the parents, I tried to work on a spiritual lesson I am struggling with right now. Instead of looking at people and mentally judging them on the spot as too fat, too this or too that, I attempt to be like a mirror and simply reflect what I see. Try it sometime, it is NOT easy! I guess we are just so conditioned to judge others, but it something I am trying to train myself not to do.
Finally, we made our way to the library where Mikayla got on the computer to play some learning games while I searched for books and videos she might like to check out. She loves having me read stories to her and I want to keep that love alive.
All in all, it was a wonderful almost spring afternoo
