Graduation Day Posted 4 months ago

Life is a little less hectic today as I finished up the work for two graduate classes. I will be attended the hooding ceremony for my master's on Friday, despite the fact I have one more class to go and a portfolio to turn in before I'm officially DONE.

Of course, this doesn't mean my life is any less crazy! I'm under contract to write a film script based on the LDS novel Seasons of Salvation by Dennis L. Mangrum.

Seasons of Salvation

I'll keep you updated on film release dates. I promise.

No, I Haven't Forgotten Posted 6 months ago

My posts over here are so few and far between that I'm sure you all think I've forgotten about you. No so. I just have trouble keeping up with all the other million things I have to do. I haven't even sent out my e-zines for nearly three months! And my newspaper columns have become happenstance instead of weekly.

I've been giving teleconference classes for WriteWise. You can actually subscribe to them at iTunes. I've listened to part of them on my computer and it's really sort of strange to listen to myself give a class. Strange, but COOL!

Speaking of class, grad school is going well. We're on spring break this week, so I hope to get all my work caught up. Only once more class to go and I'm an official MEd.

Only one more term and teaching Jr. High school will also be over for another year. If only I could get all those papers read that are sitting on my desk.

So, when it takes forever for me to log in, leave a new post, or visit any of your sites, don't think I've forgotten you. Just know I'll come back as soon as I have another free moment.

It’s a brand new year, and I have some incredibly wonderful opportunities facing me. Let’s just hope this semester’s graduate school classes are not as frustrating as last term’s were, or I’m dead in the water! Here’s a quick review of what’s going on with me right this minute. Maybe some of you will be there and I’ll get to meet more of my readers. Some of us are already friends so it will be great to see everyone again.

  1. January 18-19, 2008 WriteWise Conference Presenter

As a Senior Editor for the Precision Editing Group (http://www.precisioneditinggroup.com/) I (http://www.luannstaheli.com) will be joining Editing Director Heather B. Moore (http://hbmoore.com/), and Senior Editors Annette Lyon (http://annettelyon.com/), Julie Wright (http://juliewright.com/), Josi Kilpack (http://www.josiskilpack.com/), for a presentation titled “The Nuts and Bolts of Writing.”

  1. February 2008 Teleconference Presenter WriteWise

Throughout the month of February I will be teaching more in-depth classes on “The Nuts and Bolts of Writing” to those authors who are part of the first class enrolled in WriteWise, the publishing arm of the Bookwise company. (www.bookwise.com) In addition, the entire Senior Editing staff will be working with new writers who hope to publish with Bookwise.

  1. My Bookwise Bookstore

Of course, I’ll continue to build my clientele for my own Bookwise Bookstore. If you’re interested in becoming one of my preferred customers, please visit: http://www.mybookwise.com/luannstaheli/

  1. The Osmond Family Blog

I’ve returned to work once again with Alan Osmond after a twelve-year absence. I’m doing the updates for family blog at http://strengtheningfamilies.blogspot.com and handling the email at OsmondStrengtheningFamilies@gmail.com. If you know anyone who loves the Osmond family, but sure to pass along those addresses and ask them to sign up to be on our email list.

  1. The rest of my life includes: teaching English at Payson Jr. High, finishing my MEd in Instructional Technology through USU, both my newspaper columns, as well as the other writing projects I have in the works, serving on several boards and committees, being in charge of the Nebo Young Writer’s Conference, doing publicity for the UVSC Forum on Children’s Literature Conference (hppt://www.uvscforumonchildrensliterature.blogspot.com), and on and on. That’s not counting trying to be a wife and mother, or the million other obligations that seem to swirl around me at any given time.

Overall, it’s a wonderful life, even when I am over-booked and over-scheduled. If I get a little bit behind, please know that I’m doing my best and will get everything done that I need to, eventually. Thanks for all the support everyone gives me in each of these endeavors.

Busy Blogger Posted 11 months ago

I am a busy blogger. Not only am I trying to get myself into the habit of blogging each week here at cre8buzz, but I also blog on five other sites! I hope some of you here will also check in over there. You can see my list on My Profile page.

This week I'm looking forward to FALL BREAK. I teach junior high school and we have a two day vacation on Thursday and Friday. This used to be known as U.E.A. weekend, but whoever did the scheduling this year for our district failed to note that their conference is October 29-30 this year. Oops!

In any case, I'm excited, my kids are excited, and my students are excited. No matter what, I'm taking a little bit of time for myself. I want to go see "The Seeker" since I've just read "The Dark is Rising" to my 8th graders. I have some editing and writing to get done for my own sanity, and a little housekeeping to do, but even those chores are better than spending the entire time doing homework for my graduate courses.

I hope all of you are enjoying this interesting fall weather---yes, we did have more snow yesterday evening! And the rain has made it downright cold around here, but that's okay too. It brings back warm memories of growing up in Indiana, and gives me more inside time to write and post all these blogs that keep me busy.

First Snow of the Season Posted 11 months ago

As I'm working in my home office, I glance out the window and see huge, white fluffy flakes falling as fast as can be. It's the last weekend of September.

My seven-year-old runs into the house, yelling, "Mom, I need my mittens."

I hear my fourteen-year-old ask his friends gathered around the big screen TV, "Who else wants hot chocolate?"

My husband arrives home from a business trip to California, wearing shorts and complaining about the weather. Go figure.

As for me, I love the snow. Especially the first one of the year, and most especially when I can watch it from home and not have to drive in it.

So, now, I'm signing off so that I can go watch the snowfall and remember, sometimes a person with a busy life just needs a little time to watch the weather.
