I am actually very, very sad I'll miss it. I am an extrovert. I am a social-butterfly. A conference where I could meet tons of new people, and they're all bloggers? It would be nirvana. But, I won't be there.
I'm running a charity event at our church that weekend. I will be shuffling poker chips and serving beer to a bunch of people who I hope will write big, fat checks to assist a new special needs program at the school. A program that will benefit kids like MY son.
This is one of the many times as a parent that I won't put myself first. It will be hard to read all the posts and see all the pictures of the conference. It will be really hard. But, what I'll be doing is important work.
At least...that's what I keep telling myself.

It's one of those times you do things for you by doing things for your son. I think BlogHer's becoming an institution, so next year you go to BlogHer to do things for YOU, yes? I'm not able to go--between time commitments this time of year and my work with Anime Twin Cities I'm only able to make one convention out of state a year, and that's the one ATC sponsors, Anime Detour, which is the thing the PS and I do as a couple-style hobby, so it's good for the relationship. We find other things to do as "good for us as individuals". I guess the point is that we all find the balance we need if we're given the room to check out all the tilts and tips.

I didn't go either. I still can't figure out why and how BusyDad figured he could, though. And why his wife allowed it.

Maybe we could do a local Blogher of sorts. ( I'm not a Blogher member but there seems to be quite a few "Buckeye" bloggers). You're doing the right thing and sometimes doing the right thing isn't fun. Hope you're event is a success!
