There may be hope yet. I have been writing for fun, not profit for a long while and really do love technology and computers. I was online when 2400 baud was fast and had one of the first available cell phone when they were the size and weight of a brick. But until recently I have only used my phone for talking, (go figure), and never used instant messaging.

Well this month I sent my first few text messages. And today I got some help from another, (I'm sure much younger), blogger setting up IM. Now my teenagers are going to teach me "T9Word" (???)

Are there many others out there? If you are over 40 or 50 and text and IM, post a comment here letting me know there is indeed hope.

I have not paid too much attention to the publicity aspect of writing my blog. I enjoy writing and have a few regular visitors and commentators, but see it more as a personal endeavor rather than an attempt to be popular or change the world. So, I am probably not the best person to recommend a way to increase readership of your site, but here is something that happened to me that might be of interest.

I had a visit by a new reader who found my article on the dangers of using antibiotic hand soap in your home. http://xrl.us/7ug3 This visitor then read and submitted another post on my site to Digg. Someone else read the same article and did the same. The average page views for that post had been in the range of 25 -30 per day. After the Diggs, the visits jumped to over 700!

This lasted only a couple of days before the views of that article dropped back down, but it was very interesting to see how Digg actually works.
