A couple of years ago I worked as a university lecturer and had a beautiful apartment and lifestyle.

Good times.

Then I decided to invest all in my own business and promptly lost the lot when said business collapsed.

Bad times.

I was declared bankrupt in August last year just after my 28th birthday (happeee birthday tooo meee!).

After my bitter tears had dried I realised that I may be broke but, dammit, I'm still beautiful -- of course, here I mean beautiful inside since it's difficult to even avoid terrifying small children when you've a chronic case of stress-related acne, severe dark circles and a load of grey pubes in your hairline (Yes. I have grey pubes in my hairline.Want to make something of it?) -- and in March of this year I created Ladies in the Red: For the Broke and the Beautiful as a support site for all the other women who have some bad financial shit going down.

Did that make me sound a little bit like 50 Cent? I hope so.

Last month I was discharged from bankruptcy and you can see the photos in my gallery to prove it. Actually, they probably only prove that I like mojitos a little too much, but hey-ho.
