We all know that bloggers are the smartest people around. No, I'm not sucking up, it's true. We just "get it".

Anyway, to the point of this post. My husband and I eat out everyday for lunch. Well, not really "out" because I always call the order in, pick it up, and bring it back to the office. What is the etiquette for tipping on a take out order? Being that we are in a small town with limited resteraunts, I always tip when I pick up my order so that my food is not spat on the next time. Is this really necessary? I mean, I don't really know who took my order on the phone so I don't know who actually did all the work.

I'm not in the food industry. Well, I did work at Shoney's as a hostess for 3 really long months my freshman year in high school but that is the extent of it. Sadly, I still remember the Happy Birthday song. Oh, man, now I have that damned thing stuck in my head.

It is customary to tip even on a take out order. The person who takes the call is generally also the person who bags it and if there is car side service also brings it out to you. They make only a lousy 2 or 3 dollars an hour just like the servers at the tables and rely on tips as a source of income.

...MAYBE you could stop tipping, but send your husband to get the food instead... and order under a different name! :)

Not sure if you could back out of the tipping now, assuming you go to the same place everyday. If you stop now... now that they are used it... they'd probably start spitting!

Someone spit in your food? Never! I would just tip a dollar. At least then they will remember you as the "nice lady with big boobs" instead of the "bitch with big boobs". Your welcome!
