Local Halloween Event Makes Us Famous Posted 3 months ago

I might not like being in this small town at the moment, but it doesn't mean I'm insane enough not to enjoy the spectacular events and festivals that this place does have to offer for a small town.

Not too long ago I wrote a review/article of sorts about our local Neewollah festival that happens in October each year. The festival is not just known around these parts, however. It is famous enough that people from all over the United States come here every year. To find out why it's so darn famous, check out my review/article: http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/810201/halloween?cat=62

Placenta Eatin' MMM MMM Good..... Posted 5 months ago

Nope, the subject of this post's title is not an error. There really ARE people who eat their own placentas after childbirth. And here I thought this was just a practice that only animals do. How the subject even came to light was because, several weeks ago my best friend was reading about interesting practices people do. She pointed out mom's eating their own placentas and then hooked me up with some links and suggested that I blog about it. I started the blog, but then things became really insane around here, so I ended up setting the
post aside.

Then, a few days ago one of our cats gave birth to kittens and then ate the placenta. Tonight our other cat gave birth to her kittens and did the same.

So now, here I am discussing the ritual of eating placenta. Apparently, eating placenta can help with postpartum depression and hemorrhage. Some websites are even offering recipes for cooking up placenta.

Check Out:

Placenta Recipes from www.pregnancy.about.com/od/placenta/a/placentarecipes.htm
placenta Recipes from www.mothers35plus.co.uk/plac_rec.htm
Placenta Recipes from www.twilightheadquarters.com/placenta.html

While it seems to be safe enough that a mother can eat her own placenta, it's not wise to eat someone else's placenta since there can be a high risk of disease such as HIV and Hepatitis.

And while eating placenta may not be uncommon in some households, it will most definitely be uncommon in mine!!!

One final and simply twisted thought....I bet Jeffrey Dahmer is smiling in his grave right now.. YUCK!!!

What Blogging is Really About Posted 7 months ago

Lately the world has gone insane with blogging. But with as big as blogging has become, some tend to forget what blogging is really all about. Most bloggers tend to worry about what others will think if their blog isn't professional looking and if they don't, someone is bound to come along and remind them that their blog isn't professional.

What we forget however, is that blogging isn't about being professional. Blogging wasn't meant to be that way. Blogging is simply about writing.

When you're blogging, who do you write for? Yourself or someone other than yourself? Do you love what you are doing or has it gotten to be a real hassle lately? If you're blogging for others rather than for what you love, maybe you should stop and take a look at your blog.

Blogging should be about you. Who cares if it's professional or not. When readers come to your blog, most are looking for posts that they can relate to. Writing style, included. If you're readers are not college professionals, they certainly aren't going to be able to relate to college written words. Unless your a college professional yourself, feel free to use simple words, and don't worry so much about whether you're a professional or not.

If someone comes to your blog and starts complaining or pointing out that your blog isn't very professional, just tell them kindly that, that's not you. I can guarantee, most of your readers will not be complaining. I for one, look for blogs that interest me. I'm not there looking to see if the writing or punctuation are professional or not.

To me the heart and soul of a blog is about a writer's expressions. Not their fancy words or perfect spelling and punctuation. Now I am certainly not saying that there is anything wrong with brushing up on your spelling or punctuation a little, just don't let those professional bloggers, intimidate you. You're just as good as they are, if not better.

I'm sure some of you are wondering if I am still around or not. I am of course... Just not as often as I'd like to be. Since I took on a second job to help make ends meet as well as take care of some legal matters, I haven't had much time to get online.

Thank You to everyone who has added me recently and dropped by my page. I always enjoy seeing new faces and old ones. :)

It's a Never Ending Battle in My Life it Seems Posted about 1 year ago

Ever since I started working at my new job I've noticed a sharp pain and numbness in my hand again. Last night it was bad enough that my husband was even concerned. It's happened once before when I worked at a wire factory. Well today the sharp shooting pain and numbness has travel up to my elbow. I can take a good guess that it's carpal tunnel. Sigh.

The one major option that I have is surgery, but that is not an option for me since I cannot afford it due to the lack of insurance and I'm not a fan of surgery. I could go with the insurance provided with the company I am working for, but their cost is extreme and I pay 20% of all bills. However, if it all boils down to it, I will probably do so.

I was looking up natural remedies and did find that vitamin b6 and b12 can help, so I may look into that.

Yoga has also been mentioned as a way to relieve carpal tunnel. I don't really have time for yoga, however. As a matter of fact I don't really have time for any type of exercise other than what I do at work.
