So I've had a lot of free time on my hands the past few months, because I moved to a new area and it's been hard finding a full time graphic design job. I was getting really discouraged but after a month or so I took up crocheting, got a part time job as an assistant wedding photographer, started a craft blog (thebestofdiy.com), and just started becoming more artistic.
Ever since I was little I had a passion for art, I would always be drawing and wanted to become a Disney animator. In high school I started studying art and becoming more serious about it, I went to art college for a semester but it was too expensive to live on campus and the commute was getting to me.
I took a year off and decided to go back to school to get a graphic design degree. I took up two jobs and had no time to be artistic, it is so hard to find that time to do your own thing while working an 8hr job. I would be so tired and stressed the only thing I wanted to do was sleep.
I've been grateful so far to be able to pay my bills with freelance jobs here and there and my part time job. This time that I've had made me realize that I really want to work for myself, I have a talent that I'd like to use and I want to make money doing it. My creative juices have been flowing and I know it wont happen over night but I'm working at it.
