Proverbs 3: 33-35
The Lord's curse is on the house of the wicked
but He blesses the home of the righteous

He mocks proud mockers, but gives grace to the humble
The wise inherit honor, but fools He holds up to shame

More of those stark choices - putting things right out there as they are, and not how I sometimes try to dress things up to be. Wicked is wicked, and righteous is righteous - and God will reward each appropriately. Having it be so clear here makes it easier for me to choose to be righteous, and then lean on Jesus Christ to help me become so.

This idea is furthered by the next two verses - grace is given to the humble, not the proud - I need that reminder too - for I do far too much of the proud thing than I do the humble thing.

Here we meet wisdom again....inheriting honor - I like the very sound of that - for Whose honor do I inherit? Jesus's! And who, in the face of that, would choose to be held up to shame? Not me! I know right from the start that I will stumble all over the place - but Jesus honors the effort and steps in to make up what I lack - who could ask for more than that?!
