Proverbs 3: 31-32
Do not envy a violent man
or choose any of his ways

For the Lord detests a perverse man
but takes the upright into His confidence

It is amazing to me how obvious and clear these proverbs are - you need have no doubt about how God feels about things - or to get some pretty clear and practical advice on living out each day.

Clearly there are plenty of people who do envy a violent man - they do get the attention - and at times are even held up as being 'ok'. But this is not how I am to live - and I have no problem shunning violence and not choosing that path. Have to watch my temper tho - that first little step on that slippery slope....but knowledge is power - and I know I have all the help I need in Jesus Christ to overcome that!

Pretty clear choice in the second verse - be perverse and be detested, or be upright and be taken into God's confidence. Put that way, it is pretty clear which I will choose! The thing is - that choice I think needs to be made daily - or I will slip into actions and attitudes I don't want almost without seeing it. Keeping my eyes and attention on the goal will keep me on the straight and narrow...and asking for God's help will be just what I need for each day.
