Well, hurricane season has begun. Last year was pretty tame compared to the previous two. I guess you west coasters call them cyclones, but regardless nobody wants one coming close to their digs.
Interestingly, storms like those actually help the environment by churning up the water, putting more oxygen in it.
Two years ago, Hurricane Charley was bearing down on the Gulf coast and had a high probability of hitting Tampa Bay, where I live. My family packed up and went inland to Orlando while I played cowboy to "protect the homestead, maam"
Well, Charley took a right above the everglades and went right up the middle of the state, smack into Orlando. Here I was in Tampa Bay without a cloud in the sky while my family was huddled in an interior bathroom at my sister-in-law's house. Luckily, only a few oaks were casualties there and everyone was no worse for wear.
The point of the story is, if anything had happened to them, I would not be able to handle it. So, 1) make the right choice of where to go, and then get out of Dodge if it is coming your way.
That's why we have insurance isn't it?
