Being fairly new parents we're amazed at how our life has changed. We used to go out on the weekends, eat out often and listen to Metallica loudly while enojying drinks with friends on the back porch. Now, our life is filled with much more meaningful and simple plesures...feeding Syd new foods, couting the number of times she poops in a day, getting "slimmed" by Syd (She is really orally fixated...when she kisses you she sticks her tougue out and smears it on your face...or nose...or eye)and of course video taping and photographing the little monster almost daily. Just today while watching the CU CSU game we were discussing how our socail calendar used to be filled every weekend...but with many of friends becoming parents, we don't hang out with them that often. And if we do...it's for one of thier kids birthday parties. Now all of this is fun, but boy there are some adjustments to how you approach your social life. I used to be an avid Horror movie buff - with Halloween being my all time favorite. Dennis and I had a date day yesterday...went to lunch and to see the new Halloween movie (directed by Rob Zombie - what a dark dude he is). The first 15 minutes of the movie had us so disturbed we were ready to walk out. I guess that's an indication that kids do change your perspective of the world. Before these movies were just fun...totally non-believable and unreal. Now I find myself feeling sympathetic to every character that's about to get killed...even the really dumb female characters who I used to think deserved it for being so stupid.
Never thought my life would be like this...but I'm glad Syd got us here. Our compassion and communication has heightend and we've never been happier.
