I work at a private Christian school and because of this my co-workers and I have the opportunity to get together once a week and pray. Needless to say when we got together this week the topic of our prayers was our men and women in our armed forces. In our discussion before our prayers the vice principle told the following anecdote;

She had to go out of town for some training and on her return flight she notice two soldiers getting on the plane. After the stewardess had done the usual safety routine she made an announcement that there were to veterans returning home. This anouncement was met with loud cheers, clapping and whistles in support of the two veterans. The story doesn't end there-as the fligh came to an end, after the fasten seat belts sign came on and before the plane came to a stop the stewardess again came on and asked that all the passengers please remain seated so the two veterans could depart from the plane first as they had come from a long distance and had been away from their homes a very long time. When the plane finally came to a stop instead of the usual hustle and bustle of passengers eager to depart, no one moved and there was no sound from anyone. The two veterans proceeded to get their luggage and began to walk down the aisle...it was then, as they walked down the aisle, that the passengers again began clapping, cheering and whistling for the two veterans.

I can only hope that my family and I also remember to honor any veterans we see in some small way such as this.

It is wonderful to hear stories like that..sometimes we are all so wrapped up in our own lives, we forget to appreciate those who do so much for us...and when a group of strangers come together to show their support with actions like these, it tells us the potential we all have to work together to make the world a harmonious world.

Great post. I love that story. Our church is gathering all sorts of goodies to send over to the troops. We're sending it next week. Thanks for the visit!

That brought tears to my eyes - we simply have no idea of the sacrifice these men and women have made, and are making every day - so that we can remain free. Thanks for sharing that!
