The Dreaded Diaper Rash Posted 11 months ago

I hate diaper rash! No, make that - I LOATHE diaper rash, and if I had a stronger word in my sleep-deprived vocabulary right now I would do that as well.

My youngest son, Alex, who I have fondly nicknamed my little tornado, has the dreaded rash. Now mind you, this is maybe the second time ever he has had it. I cloth diaper about 90% of the time, and he has been fortunate enough to avoid the dreaded rash most of his young existence. Oh, but not today! Today he has full blown "red tushie syndrome" and through no fault of mine, or none that I can clearly see. You see, I am what I like to call a "ninja diaper changer" - I sense one molecule of wet nappy odor and WHOOSH! - diaper change done fast as a ninja! So, riddle me this, how is it possible for his little tushie to bear these red marks if he didn't even sit one nanosecond in poop??? But I digress...

So, we do naked time and 30 minutes later the rash persists. Now I have smeared his butt with Boudreaux's Butt Paste and laid him down for his nap. And let me tell you this is a feat for me. Why? Well, you see, I have OCD - so the smearing of the butt paste is like I am painting the most perfect oil masterpiece on his tush. Imagine trying to do that with a squirming, overtired 9 month old. But yet, I prevail, managing to get the paste on just right. Wow, do I hate diaper rash! So, now we wait to see if it clears up as quickly as it appeared, but knowing my luck, I'll be painting another Butt Paste masterpiece when he gets up from his nap.

I used to use good old A&D ointment(not the cream)on my girls. My girls were prone to diaper rashes and I used to change them right away too, but they'd still get them. So I have tried many things and that helped because it was thick it was like a barrier and didn't come off as soon as they went. I also used to use if fairly regularly as a precaution. Once I finally started using that the rashes didn't happen as much. Also great for chapped lips:)

We've had ZERO luck with that Butt paste stuff, but Dr. Smith's is seriously stuff from Heaven! My youngest got food poisoning which translates into burning liquid for 3 days. His bottom was bleeding. This stuff is AMAZING!!!
