Chanting a mantra, for a longer period of time allows you to go ‘deep into the mantra’. Although the concept of mediation is interpreted in many different ways, it is generally true that mantras support meditation. Mantras can also be used to fall asleep, to wake up or to relax. They can be applied to activities such as painting a Mandala, doing yoga, massage etc. Some Other Mantras I have Posted Before are The long mantra of Compassion Buddha , VAJRA GURU MANTRA ,Happiness Is Om Mani Padme Hum and More ...
Here is I posting meaning of Mantra "Om Mani Padme Hum"

OM MANI PADME HUM
Pronunciation (Tibetan):
Om Mani Peme Hum.
Mantra for Love and Compassion.

This mantra originates form Chenrezig, the Tibetan name of the Buddha of Compassion (Sanskrit: Avalokiteshvara). Chen means Eye, re means Corner of the Eye and zig means to see. Chenrizing means so to speak: He who sees the needs of all the people with compassionate eyes. Avalokiteshvara has been regarded as the most important Bodhisatwa of Tibet, the essence of speech of all Buddha’s and the manifestation of their compassion.

Meaning*

Om (Left Image Is Om ) encloses the dimensions of Body, Speech and Spirit. Often in life we experience disturbances and negative emotions which draw us away from our true nature. The OM gives us the possibility to transform this into pureness.
OM also can be translates as the essence of all enlightened form.
MANI means Jewel that stands for love and compassion (these two make everything possible and are a real jewel.)
PADME is Lotus, the flower that grows on the water and that shows everything exactly as it is; a vision in reality. The flower of wisdom and understanding (insight).
HUM represents the spirit of enlightenment. The effect is stabilization and purifying of the spirit.

There is a teaching in Yoga which says that the shorter a Mantra is, the more powerful it is. That's why some pandits say Om is the most powerful Mantra. IMHO, the same goes for the meaning of a Mantra. If we grant the following: Om: represents the Power behind, of or which is Creation. Mani: Jewel Padme: Lotus, which represents Purity. The Lotus rises above its beginnings in the muck and darkness of the still water to bask in the Glory of the Light. Hum: Enlightenment, Truth, Wisdom Therefore, I translate this mantra quite literally: Om Jewel Lotus Enlightenment. Or in better English: Om. The Jewel of Purity is Enlightenment. Of course, one can modify that by adding phrases such as: grant me, bestow, leads to, The Power of the Universe (for OM), etc. And end up with a meaning such as: By/With the Power of Creation may I attain the Gift of Purity which leads to Enlightenment. However, I like it simple. BTW, ever since I was old enough to buy my own greeting cards, even to this day, I always buy cards which are meant to be from children which say something simple like: I'm so lucky because you're the Best Mommy in the Whole World. I guess that is because I can feel my HEART saying that. While, only my mind would recite the long litany of wondrous deeds I have heretofore neglected to mention that are in most cards meant to be from adults. Anyway, check out my Audio. In honor of this Blog, I have added a wonderful version of this mantra. I wish you All Health, Happiness, Peace & Prosperity.
