Normally, when you begin a journey of some sort, you at least have some idea where you're headed. The very conscientious may even mark it on a map. If it's a route you take regularly, there may be no need for directions at all--you could travel it with your eyes closed. If you're the adventurous type, you may just hop in and go with no notion whatsoever of your destination. Just see where the road takes you.

Blogging in some ways has been like a journey for me. And to be honest, when I began several months ago, the direction I had in mind was to just provide a way for our family and friends to better keep in touch with us.

I think, however, I may have discovered a few detours on my simply planned jaunt. Side roads that sometimes need to be explored, major thoroughfares to get me there quickly, and the occasional off-roading that leave me simultaneously exhilarated and exhausted. And sometimes you just gotta hang your head out the window and wave at all your buddies who are on journeys of their own.

I'm not sure anymore where I'm headed or if in fact there is a destination at all. Maybe I'm just traveling to enjoy the sights and sounds and the magic that sometimes happens when the blank page fills with something meaningful or insightful or just laugh-out-loud funny. Something that you didn't expect when you first set out.

Yeah. Maybe that's it. Maybe I don't need a destination at all. Maybe I just need to keep traveling, enjoying the trip, see where it takes me. And may I add, it's great to have such great travel companions. You guys are awesome!

i find myself on a newly discovered planet, at least from my perspective, which currently is the only one i have. now that i've landed, many have come to welcome me. i thank you.

now i must forge ahead. discover a corner to call my own. this planet is heavily populated, and the inhabitants bear numbers which frighten me. still, i purpose to make friends because of their kindness and talent, not their digits.
