I comb thru my junk folder daily, since some of my friends have signature files containing links to blogs, etsy stores and other sites they maintain.
Well, this morning, I got a whole new suprise.
You might not remember the "This could get ugly" post I made awhile back so I'll sum it up quickly:
I had testified in a murder trial here in Wisconsin, and while the man accused was found guilty, it turned out that an expert witness called to testify against him lied on his resume. He said he'd worked at a college when he really hadn't. However, his educational credits checked out, so the courts ruled that since the guy's ability to know his way around a physics exam wasn't in question, then neither was whether or not the defendant got a fair trial.
Unfortunately, the appeal that went to the State Supreme Court disagreed--apparently any lie anywhere under oath poisons all the evidence that came from that person, and the guy who should be doing life is now out of jail.
This morning I found an email from a policeman who is investigating to prepare for the new trial (April '09--my blood pressure is going to blow by then! Whose idea was it to make this re-trial so very much later?) He had some thing turned around, but I left him a voicemail and will speak to him later on, but he seems to think I have new information when I don't. Oh, well, we all make mistakes and I'll be nice when I draw his attention to his.
I knew this would get ugly--The email implied that I am withholding evidence when I've already given every speck I ever had, five year ago during the original trial and the investigation then. He's making the mistake of believing that any anonymous jerk is actually speaking truth when in fact most are trolls looking for attention.
The funniest part? I actually did post to that blog--under the screenname that the defendant in that trial knows me as. So why post anonymously and pretend "I know something I won't tell..."? I wouldn't. It wouldn't surprise me if it's the guy himself making the posts, trying to cause problems for those of us who testified.
