I know I'm not the only American Idol fan on cre8buzz--I just canNOT be the only person who watches this show! I've decided I'm going to try to post 1-2 posts here at cre8buzz on American Idol to try to get some discussion going. I'd love to see a forum for it here but it might be something that can come as the site grows.

SO--where are the rest of you and who do you think is going home tomorrow night? Here's my guesses and why:

GUYS:

Jason Castro is definitely going home. He just hasn't stepped up to the level of competition. He's cute, but his performances are so bland that he's just not going to get enough votes to stay.

The other guy? The other guy is going to be either Luke Menard or Danny Norriega. They're both incredibly talented but so are the other guys who are left, and these two are lacking in showmanship. Luke loses himself points against guys who are totally revamping songs. He also isn't putting much personality into his performances--note-perfect is cool but if he's just cloning the songs it's not very exciting.

Danny's a bishie (sexy in a boyish way rather than a testosterone-laden muscular and more studly way) little thing but he's having a hard time finding a good place for himself in the competition--song choices have been erratic even though his version of "Tainted Love" was very well-done. Danny, if you ever read this, try pulling out Great White's "Once Bitten Twice Shy"--it'd work wonderfully for you!

LADIES:

Many of the ladies are fortunate they're not going head to head with the men at this point. The performances were good but weren't great (with a few exceptions), so there are going to be women staying who are in for a rude awakening next week.

My choices for the two leaving this week are easy: Kady Malloy and Kristy Lee Cook. Kady totally missed the boat on Queen's "Who Wants to Live Forever" and Kristy Lee should die in a fire for the Country version of Journey's "Faithfully". They both tackled songs that make fans say, "If you screw this song up we will beat you severely about the head and shoulders," and then proceeded to mangle them horribly.

The other ladies are going to need to step up their game next week though--most stuck to the arrangements that were recorded rather than trying to exceed the recorded standard, and in this year's environment with the men going above and beyond on everything they perform, they're going to be in trouble.

The standouts this week for me were David Cook (who actually made me LIKE Lionel Ritchie's "Hello", which I've always detested) and Amanda Overmyer's version of Joan Jett's "I Hate Myself For Loving You" was the showstopper tonight. I knew she'd choose Joan Jett--but I thought she'd take "Do You Wanna Touch Me" instead. Whatever--I hate her hair but I love the rest of her style so it's all good.

There you have it--my personal opinion. That and $4 will get you a latte. What's your opinion?

I like Jason Castro. My husband and I often comment that we could set ourselves on some bar stools, order a beer, and watch him sing. He is the type of singer that someone either loves or is completely bored by. My faves of the girls are Amanda and Carly.

Yup I catch when I can. I agree the men have the talent this time around. But I really like Amanda Overmyer (and her hair.) lol
