I went to visit my friend at the hospital, it was open and running but with not a soul in sight, strangest experience yet, to be in a huge hospital but not meeting anyone.

that does sound somewhat odd. Hey, at least it was open. The hospitals around here close at weekends, for summer holidays and over Christmas as well as any other reason they can come up with for taking the day off work. Not a great place to injure yourself without checking the calender for any obscure national holidays first!
