One thing I loosely promised myself when I decided I was going to blog is that I would try not to post about my blogging habits or blog much about my blog itself. To me it just seems a bit disingenuous. That and oh, yeah I don't think anybody really cares all that much about things like that. But....
I haven't written in a few days, just photos and video, and I do like to sprinkle in some words here and there. Add that to the fact that I saw something this morning I have never seen before and I decided promises, schomises.
You know what an RSS feed is, right? Good. If you don't then that is a whole different post, and one that I don't feel like doing right now. But if you read the same sites regularly odds are you could benefit from subscribing to RSS feeds. I'm no expert, but I could tell you about them a bit, or you could just look it up online. There has got to be a tutorial about the use of RSS for beginners.I use Google Reader for my RSS feeds.
Anyway RSS feeds and a good RSS reader are wonderful tools! That is unless you let them run roughshod all over you! Like I have recently.
I have about 130 feeds in my reader. I don't read every entry from ever site that winds up in my reader but I do check in on it often and usually keep up with it pretty good. The last week or so though. Yikes... 200 unread, 300, 400, 750... and when I opened my reader this morning 1000+. That's right "1000+", not 1003 or 1054 or 1992, just 1000+. Google can't even be bothered to keep an accurate count anymore.
Now, I'm not a total slacker. I have actually read many of the 1000+ I just didn't mark them read. But I also know that in that portion of 1000+ that I actually have not seen yet there is some gold. Some great posts. But frankly I don't know that I have it in me to find out. This is looking more and more inviting....

"Mark all as read". Fresh start, clean break. Oh so tempting. Wait! Is it a trap? Will I be riddled with guilt? Will I have missed that perfect post? Will I be able to sleep at night?
OK, I've thought about it for the last 30 seconds and. Kablooey! Blown up. Just did it. Marked all as read. And so far... it feels OK. Cool.
So if you haven't seen me around your site and were wondering if I was still alive and well, know that I had a bad case of unreaditis, but a simple dose of "Mark all as read" has just now cleared it up. Just don't be mad at me if I didn't comment on that totally awesome post you put up in the last week or so. I might not have seen it.
Now, all I have to do is tell you all about how my blogroll is a total disaster and how I need to get it in order (oh no, that's another post about my blogging habits or about my blog..... promises schomises, right?).
