Sherry Wilson featured in RE/MAX Success Stories III
Sherry and her team are being featured in the newest addition of RE/MAX Success Stories. Sherry has been included in the last two volumes and is proud to be a part of the newest addition.

Here is a sneek peek of Sherrys story:

AWARDS: DIAMOND CLUB - LIFETIME ACHIEVMENT - HALL OF FAME - CHAIRMANS CLUB - #2,#3,#4,#9 TEAM USA - 8 YEARS - #1 or #2 AGENT OR TEAM VA - 8 YEARS

A school teacher, Sherry arrived at a crossroads in 1984 when her ambition for real estate and passion for teaching collided, igniting the fuse on a future real estate jugernaught. Driven by her inner need to help others, and the great feeling of satisfaction when she did, Sherry embarked on a real estate career that would have an impact on Loudoun County and its residents for years to come. Sherry used her teaching background to counsel clients and train associates to help her become greater than the sum of her parts. By leveraging talent and immersing herself in training, Sherry took her real estate success to a level that most agents only dream of. She is well respected by her clients, peers and absolutely loved by her team, who are trained in the shadow of her legacy.

"Uncommon Results" "Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision. The ability to direct individual accomplishments toward organizational objectives. It is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results." -Andrew Carnegie

I decided that I wanted to experience the fulfillment and joy I received from teaching, but on a different level. I wanted to take my ability to educate and help people to realize their dream of homeownership, and in the process, build relationships that would last longer than the lifespan of a real estate transaction. I began in 1984 doing a few transactions and immediately realized that this business is not about money, but about developing relationships. Not just with potential clients, but with my team members & associates. I soon realized that happy clients will always return, and because of the trust between us, will also send their friends and family members. I knew then, my goal was to build a business and develop a team around this prime directive: Satisfied Clients First! When I had more business than I could properly and adequately service, I decided to grow my team. I was hesitant at first. I needed to make sure that my clients were being satisfied in the same manner that I insisted on personally. I found that through teaching, mentoring, encouragement and loyalty, building a strong team was very possible.

Consistency is the key. I know that doing a few things consistently increases my odds of success. Training, mentoring, branding, listing advertisements and client appreciation are critical to my teams ability to experience personal growth and to function as a well oiled machine. My team is like my family. I treat them with respect, honor and would do anything for them. I treat them the same way I want clients treated. And it shows. Many of my team members have been with me for a long time, as well as my clients. I expect a lot from my team and they expect a lot from me. As the market evolves and changes, we adapt our systems to allow for continued consistent growth. Only with the most talented team members is this flexibility possible...and I have the best! Building lasting relationships with my team and clients is the key to our continued growth and success. We keep our core values in mind always, and remember that excellence is our minimum standard. I would not have it any other way!

Thank you Sherry Wilson - Great Job Team! Posted 6 months ago

Sherry has decided to reward our team with a cruise...again! Even though it was a tough year, the Sherry Wilson Team pulled together and held the lines. Our final numbers were down from previous years, but comparatively, we really did more business than we expected. This market has been a real eye-opener for our team, and we have had to frequently adapt and make tough changes to stay on track with our goals.

A message from Sherry about 2007:

There was a statistic recently from the National Association of Realtors that said from 2000-2005 the number of licensed agents in the US climbed from 700,000 to 1.3 Million. By 2009, that number is expected to dwindle to the 900,000s. Prior to 2000 the number of licensed agents had remained stable in the 700,000s for many, many years.

If you did not see this market coming, or was not prepared for it, it will be very difficult to sustain a decent profit margin. I think that the agents that persevere this market will come out on the other side, stronger than ever. What does not kill you makes you stronger! That has been my plan from the beginning. We are going to survive this market, we are going to benefit from the lessons we have learned, and my team will be stronger and more cohesive because of it. The creative and unique ideas that have come from my team because of the changing market have been very effective. By pulling together and evolving with the market, they have managed to keep this business alive, and I have no doubt that the momentum generated will propel them forward to achieve there team and personal growth goals in the future.

A message from the team:

Thank you Sherry for keeping us together as a family and allowing us to remain intact. We know it was difficult! We know you could have dissolved our administrative support team for higher profits, but you did not. We know you could have reduced our marketing budget, but you did not. We know you could have lost faith in us when we had a tough month, but you did not. We know you could have spent less money on training, but you did not. We know you could have decided to not take our entire team on another cruise this year, but you did not. We know you could have cut back on many things, but you did not.

You have been behind us at every turn. You have encouraged us when we felt there was no hope. You have remained our biggest fan through the most difficult market we have ever experienced. You have been there for us on a personal level, to help us when we needed you. For all of this, we thank you and we love you.

We look forward to a great 2008, and we will do everything in our power to make it the best year ever for the Sherry Wilson Team.

Time to count our blessings

The real estate industry was not at its best this year, but that doesn't mean everything is looking gloomy. Sometimes we tend to look more on the bad side of things even if there are so many things that we should be thankful for.

One great example of someone who managed to look past the current real estate slowdown is Tom Kunz. Due to the weakening home prices, he lost around $200,000. His home is worth 15% less than the cash offer he received back in 2004. However, he is still happy. He is focusing more on the gain rather than his losses. He still made a $700,000 profit since he bought the house in 1998 for $340,000.

Not everyone can be as lucky as Tom Kunz, but we can all have the same mindset. If you're having a tough time right now, take a break. Count your blessings more than your misfortunes. Look ahead and think of the positive things you can do in the future. Everyone had their on share of bad days but I'm sure we've all had some good times too.

This Thanksgiving Day, we should be literally "giving thanks" not only for the material blessing we received, but also for the wonderful things that happened in our lives. This includes the important lessons we have learned from our misfortunes. Most of all don't forget to give thanks for all the people who made a difference in your lives, from your family, friends, associates and most especially our troops.

Happy Thanksgiving to you, your love ones and to our troops!

Sherry

GivingThanks

Everyone,

I would like to encourage you to send your thanks to all our service members over the next few days by participating in the attached campaign. It's very simple. (see information below)

If you happen to be in the area this weekend, tune in to ABC's Capital Sunday show at 9:30 am on Sunday. Apparently I will be appearing, along with Frank Maresca, one of the owners of some of the 10 Moe's Southwest Grills that have graciously partnered with us this Holiday season to collect donations for our service members.

(Please keep in mind that TV adds 10 lbs., plus all the turkey we'll be enjoying on Thursday..lol :-)

Have a great Thanksgiving!

Sincerely,

Mary

WHO: America Supports You is a Department of Defense program that recognizes citizens' support for our military and their families, at home and abroad, and connects individuals and organizations who wish to directly support the troops and their families. ASY is launching a text messaging program called “Giving Thanks”.

WHAT: Giving Thanks is an interactive America Supports You program taking place during the Thanksgiving holiday to offer citizens an opportunity to say thank you to the men and women who serve this nation. Major mobile wireless providers, including AT&T, Verizon, Sprint Nextel, and T-Mobile, provide access to the America Supports You Text Message program.

WHEN: People can text a message of thanks to 8-9-2-7-9, beginning at 6am EST on Saturday, November 17, and ending at midnight, PDT on November 22, Thanksgiving Day.

WHY: The goal is for people to take a moment during the Thanksgiving holiday to think about those who are serving this nation, and act in a way that demonstrates they appreciate their sacrifices. Giving Thanks offers a unifying moment for the nation, during a time in which families traditionally come together and express gratitude for things large and small that contribute to their lives. The United States currently has brave military men and women serving in 177 countries. These troops and their families will be informed about how many people have texted in their thanks and will get to see many of the messages, reminding them that people back home do care.

HOW: On Thanksgiving Day America Supports You will tabulate the number of messages sent to the troops. The volume of text messages will serve as a reminder to our military that the folks back home are grateful for their service.

About America Supports You:
Since its formation three years ago, the America Supports You program has welcomed over 300 grassroots organizations and 35 corporate partners to its team. Many America Supports You team members support the troops through letter writing, care packages, helping the wounded when they return home, assisting military families, sending an email, or making a kind gesture—to learn more about how you can help please visit:

You never get a second chance at a first impression Posted 7 months ago

First impressions last. This is very important when you're selling your home, especially on a buyer's market. With more homes on the market, selling a home nowadays can be a challenge for some home owners. It is very easy to get set aside in favor of a better looking home, even if there is a price difference.

Most buyers are looking for a house that is ready to move-in. Very few have the time to renovate. Most have spent bulk of their savings in buying their home, so there's not much left to cover the cost of renovation. Plus, who would not love to just simply move in a new home and do nothing else.

Now more than ever, home staging is gaining popularity among home sellers. According to this article "Home Staging to Meet Consumer Demands", home staging is the solution to make your home sell faster. Staged homes sold in almost half the time it took non-staged houses. Most importantly, it was sold for a substantially higher price.

A staged home gives the buyer a lasting impression. It makes it easier for the buyer to choose your house over the rest of your competition. To add, home staging highlights the best features of your house. It makes your house look bigger yet cozy, inviting and warm enough to make the buyer visualize actually living in your house.

Here are links to some of my past articles to help you get started in home staging:

As a Realtor, I'm not just after selling your house. I'm here to help you sell your house at a good price and maximize its value. For most of my clients, their house is their biggest asset or investment. Thus, I know how important it is for them to achieve a good selling price for their home.

In the end, home staging is a win-win solution for both the buyer and the seller. It helps the seller achieve a good sale price for her home at a shorter selling period. Meanwhile, the buyer gets to move in her new home without the need to renovate. It allows a smooth transition of the property from the seller to the buyer.

So next time you decide to sell your home, do consider staging it yourself or by a professional stager. Take it as one of the last investments you're making towards your home. The best part about it is you can reap the benefits as soon as your home is sold!

See you soon,

Sherry
