At once, there were two, whom Fate saw fit to acquaint and induce
They were two, whom Fate had conspired with Destiny to introduce
They soon grew enmeshed, growing together
As ivy is wont to do within the beds of sweet heather

They grew together intertwined and combined, growing into an unconstrained one
Their love shone forth, almost as brightly as their one and only summer in the sun
Their roots became the same as evidence of their passion proclaimed
Those who surrounded knew that this was the Truth, the highest Love to be attained

Consummated conception planted the seed
And bore forth a bantling filled with need
This bound the determined lovers ever more tightly, frightened yet stronger
He made a silent epitaph unto himself that his soul now belonged to her

The sun suddenly went out with a flash as the three were uprooted viciously
A raging storm, a torrent, blinded them as they were transplanted, unceremoniously
Contemptible plots of tiny minds and weaker hearts threatened to tear the three apart
They were separated by distance, but held sheltered within the other's heart

The final violation, the dawning of the dark, the sireling was severed from the kindred, torn away
The storm abated, a tumultuous stood expectantly as sorrow from the Heavens held sway
The three had become two and the two separated, divided into less than a whole person
He, having failed in his promise, fell to the ground in languid decay with the loss of will, acumen and reason

She stood defiant and unbendable, though the seasons turned treacherous
Her impenetrable visage was distrustful and frigidly gorgeous
His wounded soul was ripped open for all to witness and deem undeserving
She retained the pain within, containing it with a will that was unswerving

Yet both held the darkness within them like a leprous disease
Trying to find relief, to fill the void, something with which the longing would be appeased
They passed through the Autumn of their forgiveness, and let Winter's blanket of snow germinate the seeds of solace

Now a new Spring has arrived, permeated with the promise of understanding
Revealing that, all these many years, the two being separated by Life notwithstanding
They were forever enjoined under the surface, one's hand holding the other's spirit
They were not alone in the darkness, and they could once again entertain Hope and not have to fear it
