Hi everyone
Although I've only just joined cre8Buzz, I've noticed we have quite a few parents in the community.
Did you see that Mattel has just announced Barbie branded golf clubs? I thought that was great and blogged about it here: http://www.golfgal-blog.com/2007/10/girls-get-in-swing-with-barbie.html
I have 2 wonderful kids in my extended family (my golfguy's kids, but I love em just the same!) and they both have golf clubs. It isn't easy to drag them away from the Xbox 360 and Facebooking with friends, but we are determined to create a family golf routine at home so that we can play together and enjoy more of the outdoors together.
A friend of ours encourages his twins to play with him on weekends using a form of bribery. Okay, some of you might not appreciate it, but it's not really bribery...it's more like golf gambling (maybe that's worse :)). It goes like this...they play 18 holes of golf and at every green, the person who has the fewest putts wins money. I think it's $5 a hole. Now...that can really add up for a 13 year old! Anyway, those kids are becoming good golfers and the dad is thrilled to share time with his boys. I think those kids would play now even without the $.
Anyway, the point of the story is this...golf is fun for the whole family. It doesn't have to be expensive - pitch and putt is just fine. The important thing is to "play WITH the kids" and create family memories of fun. Too many of us send the kids out to play (I confess - that used to be me...but that's going to change starting in the spring when we can golf together as a family).
