A SHORT HISTORY OF INDEPENDENCE DAY

“Taxation without representation is tyranny!”

That was the rallying cry of the American colonists rebelling against British rule. The colonists were being forced to pay taxes to England with no representation in British Parliament. They had no say about how much tax they would pay no say as to how their tax money was to be spent. With rumors of rebellion, growing, British troops went in to keep the colonists in line. The colonists tried to broker a peaceful solution, but their attempts were repeatedly rebuffed.

On June 11, 1776, the colonist’s Continental Congress met to declare officially, in writing, that they were no longer willing to live under British rule.
Thomas Jefferson, known for his great eloquence and statesmanship, was given the job of creating the document. In addition, a difficult job it turned out to be! More than 86 alterations were made to the document before it was declared complete.

On July 4, 1776, the final version of the Declaration of Independence was signed and copies were sent out among the colonists. The Fourth of July has been celebrated in the United States every year since, but it was not until 1870 that Congress officially declared it a National Holiday.

In 1938, Congress re-affirmed Independence Day, making it a paid holiday for all federal employees. Today, people across the country celebrate and acknowledge their priceless gift of freedom they enjoy with parades, picnics and glorious fireworks displays.

Blogs ... Love em? or Leave em?

Writing for a site that is experiencing problems can be a real test to whether you enjoy the responsibility of writing.

For over a month almost every attempt to post failed. It is frustrating, it wastes time, and your readers do not know what has happened to your blog. Is it still current? Has the URL changed? They only know - the writing stopped and there is nothing new to read.

The company is experiencing growing pains while changing servers, updating systems, and installling new software ... not an easy task for the best-of-um. The turmoil is great, but the benefits will be, too! The blog will continue and be the best it can be - so stay tuned. The new start date will be posted here and on "Life after Stay-at-home-Mom" found here: http://lifeaftersahm.blogspot.com/

Not cool to rant, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do!

To Catch Up Posted about 1 month ago

After writing three posts here at cre8BUZZ and leaving the page to check spelling or facts, etc. and then to return to empty space I have decided to post in Word and copy and paste. If any of you have, a better, faster, easier suggestion feel free to pass it along in comments.
I am adjusting to the new laptop and Vista, which is a GOOD thing …, opened mail and tomorrow at our local Wal-Mart a sale on a Dell laptop for $200 less and running OS Windows XP. I want to cry. That is what I looked for and could not find on May 18. Oh well, not meant to be … tears
Tomorrow I start my last class for my AABA! Hallelujah! Then I plan to start BBA in late July. Learning is such a fun thing! I should have started twenty years ago … better late than never. I do recommend education to everyone young and old … it opens a huge world. I have confidence in my abilities and am eager to share them in real world work experiences, so if you are looking … leave a comment and I will send my resume. OK, I realize that is brazen, but a little networking cannot hurt, can it?
The other excitement in my life is our youngest is flying in tomorrow for a visit. We have not seen her since Christmas and she is the baby … cannot wait to hug her! grin She will be here until the 25th and the family is tugging at her for her time, LOL. We have lots to catch up on and plan to spend some time at the beach, which will be nice but HOT! 101 degrees yesterday at the Mall, which was almost unbearable for humans! Yes, I do go to the Mall, not often, but yesterday it was to pick up my new glasses. I have a different look in frames this time and I am anxious to see if anyone notices.
Another new look for me, my blog background theme courtesy of Real World Mom – how do you like it? I am pleased with the new look.
How do you feel about Election 2008? History was made with Obama winning the Democratic nomination. Of course, if Hillary won, history also would mark the important event. This election will be in the history books – the first woman to run, the first black man to run … I am thankful I lived to see it, and to be a part of the political system that has finally come to realize that a woman or a man of any race, etc. is qualified to lead us! A real milestone for America … I have not made a decision how I will vote... I will be watching and listening to Obama and McCain from now until the election and will cast my vote with the candidate that will lead us to peace and a better economy. I hope all of you will do the same.
That says it all for me for now. Please continue to visit, read and comment on the things talked about here – it is nice to know I am not alone.
