Ya ever wonder what the "secret sauce" is? I've always wondered. Ya see it appears to me that "makin it" takes more than being liked or havin' "fans". Look at Ron Paul or Mike Huckabee; these cats were wildly popular with their fan base. Their base of constituents were passionate, mad followers. They were enthusiastic, almost rabid fans who would go to any length for their man. What I find interesting is despite this support and passionate following their momentum didn't spread. The momentum only went so far. Why is this? Why is it that some things go huge and others can't break into mainstream. Why do some followings continue to grow, while some just stall? Why is it Ron Paul remained insignificant, while Barack Obama has enjoyed massive growth. Why is some slammin' bands remain in obscurity playin' to a small, but mad passionate fans while others just explode on to the scene?

What is the difference? I know it's not havin' a fan base, cause everyone has one. Is it who they are. Is it the fan base?

Malcolm Gladwell talked about this in the tipping point. Are the unsuccessful missing, connectors, or mavens? That seems too acedemic.

What I do know is, I don't know what it is.

cre8Buzz has a gang of mad passionate users, the question then remains, are we Ron Paul or Barak Obama; are we The Samples or Dave Mathews?

Peace!

Antman~

I was a part of a movement that used Tipping Point as a guide to get started. They purposefully invited mavens, connectors, early adapators, etc. to their initial think tank and went from there. Five years later it's still going strong, but it never really tipped like similar groups that were working in the same field at the same time. I think it has a lot to do with timing. Things that tip often get in there at that magic moment, and the people who are leading them see and seize that opportunity. Of course with something like Buzz you want and need it to tip because it is both a passion and a business. But what about the small personal blogs that people are working on in the Buzzmophere? One of the things I've been thinking about lately is "How can we express value to the small but passionate bloggers who are writing their hearts out?" My soulsister, Jen Lemen (jenlemen.com) is a fabulous connector, and she's been telling people that thier passion is important even if thier site meter reamins low. The lives you touch with your work don't need to be many to be important. And for some of these folks taking thier values viral is more nurturing to thier anticorporate souls than riding the PR train. I'm watching Jen to find out how she takes her values viral, and you know what? It has to do with authentic friendship and being ridiculously compassionate. Seems like to me Buzz has got the marketing/tipping point thing going on _and_ the authentic passion. No doubt you'll tip s-o-o-n. Keep on keeping on!

Hmmm....no one taken the challenge to comment yet? I wish I knew the answer to this one! I think you're going in the right direction and will be as passionate and successful...heck I think you already are. You're just going to keep growing as this thing takes off. What type of PR are you doing currently? I think the difference between Huckabee and Obama...is PR. I know Huckabee had mad passionate fans and supporters, but he didn't do enough to reach the masses. Obama is just so full of controversy, that the media can't keep the spotlight off of him...and that may not be a good thing. I think it's all relative in what you would call their success levels, however PR is a must to getting the ball rolling. Where have you planted your name to get attention? I wonder if we got every one of our members to create a CRE8BUZZ campaign through their blogs during a specific period, if it wouldn't start something fantastic??@!!!
