Anonymity
Popularity: 10%
A big piece of what we’re doing with cre8Buzz is about replacing anonymity online with reputation & affinity. Our very mobile and efficient economy leads people to live ever more detached and anonymous lives. Which is fine if you’re a robot, and not so great if you’re a human being. We need each other and yet we are becoming isolated. Take a look back just one generation. Both my parents lived their adult lives, excluding college, within a 20 mile radius. Every job, every home, until retirement. By contrast I have lived in 8 cities in three states, so far. Because of that, our generation simply does not have the same opportunity to develop and maintain rich, deep friendships. We can tell ourselves that our technology, such as the surgically attached cellphone, can fill that void, but that would be a lie. Chatting into a bluetooth earpiece while standing in line at the bank cannot replace having the neighbors over to BBQ.
What technologies like cre8buzz can do, however, is bring back at least a taste of the intimacy experienced face-to-face. It is pretty obvious to everyone on the site that the level of interaction is a lot more personal than at other online venues. People often stray far (maybe very far) off subject to share things with other users simply because they need to share at that point, and they trust the environment. That is a form of success we hoped for, but didn’t expect. And believe that we will do everything we can to keep it that way. If the other sites are garage doors, we are the front stoop, or the local playground. See you on the jungle gym.

It’s a great friendly atmosphere; I’m enjoying it a lot.
Just have to wait until the weather improves for the virtual BBQ.

Great post John!
Being a part of the buzz has allowed me to actually “meet” the people behind the blogs that I already enjoyed. It was pretty mind blowing at first, I never imagined such a venue, or opportunity.
I think I can vouch for the majority of us here by saying that we are actually FRIENDS. That’s powerful! Especially to those of us who burn the midnight oil for our passions…which is pretty much everyone here. It’s fantastic to have blog friends…”blog friends” is a term that I had never heard, nor uttered, before the buzz.
Thanks man! ![]()
