Some days you’re the windshield and some days you’re the bug. I am definately the bug today. I have a heap of work to do and zero attention span. It may have something to do with this evil cold that is gnawing at my head. Yuck. I promise that you cannot catch it through this blog posting.

Days like today cause me to admire people who consistently show up, put every ounce of energy they have into their vocation, and then do it again the next day. That kind of work ethic is really admirable and goes to my last posting on perseverance.

On the other hand, I loved the line from the book and movie “About a Boy” where the main character, Will, “is a content, willingly unemployed Londoner in his late thirties who lives comfortably off the royalties of his Father’s lucrative one-hit wonder Christmas tune” He says this about filling his day:

Will: “I find the key is to think of a day as units of time, each unit consisting of no more than thirty minutes. Full hours can be a little bit intimidating and most activities take about half an hour. Taking a bath: one unit, watching Countdown: one unit, web-based research: two units, exercising: three units, having my hair carefully disheveled: four units. It’s amazing how the day fills up, and I often wonder, to be absolutely honest, if I’d ever have time for a job; how do people cram them in?”

I’m trying to get cranking but my attention span averages about six seconds. Caffeine hasn’t worked. Neither has making a long list. I, ironically, procrstinated more by taking this attention span test and scored very low.

I’ll see if hanging out on the ‘Buzz can hold my attention because that’s the “dessert” that I usually save for after getting some work done.
