Budget Blues

Well Buzzsters its annual budget time –
It means early mornings and late nights for finance folks (like myself)
- frustration for all others (who work with finance folks).
Add to the long hours 4 budgets for me, budgeting for the home, for two active businesses and a target. (and trying to keep it all straight)
My short list of budget lessons:
- Build yourself a cushion (5-10% at least)
- Don’t rely on sales to solve all problems (just most)
- You can’t hire 10 people in January and have them all work (see 2 above).
- You can’t sell a new product to a new market in one year (see 2 and 3 above).
- Your price will be lower for the new product (See 2, 3, 4, 5 above).
- IT will always spend less than they say.
Where does that leave me for this year? I would say I still think sales can solve most problems, but I am really, really pushing for a cushion. Also – IT is screaming, so I guess I got #6 right. One thing that is nice, is that for Cre8buzz the focus is on how 3 areas: Improve functions, market and keep it going (all with the constraint of limited funds)
