We had an open call with our beta testers yesterday. As mentioned in a previous post, I fouled up the recording, so all I got is a text recap. Thanks to Scott Townsend, Suburban Oblivion and Expecting Executive for checking in.

Side comment I wish this were a wiki. Participants, don’t hesitate to comment or send me an email with things I missed.

I’ll give a quick rundown:

First the Cre8buzz team gave some more information on themselves. Jim, Keith, Gabe and John (aka SVO) are the team that started this craziness. We have profiles and are hanging out in Cre8buzz if you want to learn more about us.

Cre8buzz Vision
Jim started by talking about our vision. Cre8buzz was built so people with who create user-generated content can be heard, seen and found. If you have a passion, you can participate with others in a community, get exposure and build relationships. By giving people the tools to show their stuff and share it with their audience, we hope to help the best rise to the top while giving everyone a great place to meet others.

Scott asked a great question about what we’ve experienced since our beta launch that is different that what we originally expected. The most pleasant surprise is the purposefulness and sincerity of the community interactions so far. We expected a real positive, welcoming environment, however the atmosphere has been beyond our dreams. Thank you to all our buzzbuilders and beta testers for making it a great place to interact. You know who you are and you can be sure we do too!

Changes and preview of things to come

We talked about recent changes to the site, which the Antman has highlighted

  • We’ve added more robust blogging features, including additions of hyperlinks and pictures
  • The Forums have been added and since upgraded
  • We’ve added the ability to arrange pictures and friends so you can display what they want in the order they want

On our “To-do” list, we have a number of additions and changes, including the possibility of, dare I say it, Premium features. I decided to make this a teaser. These items and other exciting news will be in an upcoming Antman post on his profile. You all can throw virtual rotten fruit at me if it’s not up yet. And, if you’re not on the site yet, well, get yourself an invite!

Cre8buzz the business and Growing the Buzz
John talked a bit about the business of Cre8buzz. For background, he shared the fact that we’re four arguably normal guys pursuing our labor of love. To date, the business has been funded by us, our friends and families. We’re anticipating our member growth to accelerate very rapidly in the upcoming weeks to meet our next goal of having thousands of passionate users. Steady growth is real important to us in order to pay for servers, keep the lights on, keep the new features coming and feed our Mexican Coke habit.

Keith then talked about how current Cre8buzzers can help by inviting their friends, both in their communities and outside their communities. Like a recent post by the Antman, we’re excited about all the “cross-buzz” occurring between diverse groups of folks and want to generate more of it.

Open Q & A

After getting the class settled again (something about Suburban Oblivian and her B.O.O.B.S got all the kids worked up. Chuckle), We talked a bit about more about the vision and mission of the site. Expecting Executive asked us tough questions! It was good practice for future investor meetings.

We then talked about some possibilities to make the site better, including:

  • Chat widgets
  • Notifications or a listing of new members and/or new content
  • RSS feeds
  • more that I didn’t capture

We soon adjourned. It was fantastic to get real feedback from some great members. We had a blast. Again, wish I had a podcast but my vague memories will have to do for now. Send me a message if I missed something, participants!

Keith
