There are lots of different areas of law. For example, I have a relative who is a public prosecutor and works on some pretty high profile stuff: grizzly murders and the like. But most of my contact with lawyers has been around different types of business law. Currently I’m working on some intellectual property issues that require me to read a good number of patents. Ever read a patent? Here’s a typical excerpt:

Nice, huh? How do sleep remedies sell at all with this available for free online? Reading it is bad enough, imagine writing it. Imagine dedicating your life to writing such documents. Ouch. I give credit to anyone who could do that, and do it well day after day. We need them, and Cre8buzz needs them, but better them than me. Just don’t tell my brother. You see, they put one of those lawyer pods next to him one night a few years back and the next thing you know he is chasing paper off the Charles. To each his own.

Thanks for the reminder. I contemplated not only law school, but this sad soul considered becoming a tax attorney…. Good times.

Hahahaha. There are all together too many lawyers in my family–including a patent lawyer. Yeah… they’re a rowdy bunch…
