An ant controls a family of gorilla’s

Ya know that cre8Buzz is all about the little guy. Ya know that we think the little guy brings far more value than the big guys, but we are just under represented. So, we love this story. It is a little old, but spot on.
Do ya rememba’ the movie Gorilla’s in the Mist (1988?) Sigourney Weaver, plays Dian Fossey the naturalist who spent time in the jungle with a family of apes. It almost didn’t make it to the big screen. The movie was drastically over budget and in jeopardy of failin’ The benjamins where gittin tight. I mean, the brass was about to shut down production. The main reason, getting footage of the gorillas they could use to support the storyline was stupid hard. (they were shooting real gorillas in the wild) It was crazy, unpredictable.
The director, the staff, etc. were sittin in a room talking about how they could fix the problem and keep from gittin’ shutdown. Everyone had their crazy ideas. They went around the table and idea after idea came out. After quite sometime and little progress, an antern (get it, Ant –tern for intern☺, I’m good), raised her hand. At first, she was ignored and brushed off, as she was only the antern. What did she know? They were the experts; the production staff, the director, the editor, the writers etc. If they couldn’t solve it, it couldn’t be solved. (see The expert) Well, after a bit more perseverance, she asked a simple question.
“Why don’t we shoot the gorillas first, and then write the story around the gorilla’s behavior?”
Answers to our problems are everywhere; experience, education, and authority do not have a monopoly on solving problems.
How do you get your answers? How do ya solve your problems? Does your company get everyone involved? Do you have a culture that welcomes ideas from everyone or is it autocratic? Do you minimize those with out “credentials”? Ya, shouldn’t.
Ants are powerful creatures dawg, ya gotta figure out how ya gonna take advantage of em. Ya won’t win with out em.
Here is to the Ant, we’re gittin stronger and stronger everyday! Let’s give it up for the little guy!!!!
