Why Web 2.0 is great!
Popularity: 21%
Myspace is constantly getting pounded because freaky, freaky punk-a_ _ fools are using it to get over on kids. Dateline NBC is making a mint scaring us all with the nasty a_ _ online conversations and hook-ups fools are trying to have with little girls. You can’t get too far with out reading something about someone gittin’ punked for money, or something. No wonder grandmother and grandfathers are a little skeptical of the net. I get it, why parents don’t let their kids use the computer behind closed doors. It is scary.
My friend, their is a another side, and it is why Web 2.0 is great. It is that people are coming together, they are having the interaction that they wouldn’t't have on the street or in a coffee shop, or in the park. Why is it we will talk to a complete stranger online and open up, but will be sitting in Starbucks and won’t say a word to anyone. I don’t know the exact answer. It is a good post topic; so I will get back to you on it. The point still remains ya’ll we ain’t afraid to give it up online and Web 2.0 is making it even easier.
I just had a personal experience that proves my point and substantiates why Web 2.0 is great. Meet my boy Kevin Henney at Quartz Mountain Communications he is a kickin’ web designer, SEO and all around good guy. He EARNED this “Shout Out!” I’ve got mad props for my boy K-. Why is Kevin slammin’? Kevin restored my faith in good vs. evil. Kevin reminded me of the old-school days when people were generally interested in helping others. Kevin is the local “good guy” that is always helping Mr. Smith get her cat out of the tree. Ya’ll know what I’m talking about. Kevin brings me back to a simpler time, when people helped people without expecting anything in return, when people felt comfortable askin’ the neighbor for a cup of sugar (OK, no one bakes anymore, but you get my point). I thought, we were become a society of introverts, and the simple kindness was lost on this new millenia of folks. I was wrong, Web 2.0 has just changed how we ask for that cup of sugar.
I asked Kevin for a cup of sugar, no, Kevin offered a cup of sugar and because of it he made the cake I was baking 100 times better. OK, what is the real story here? Kevin, an SEO recognized that our slammin cre8Buzz blog was on Typepad and had a Page Rank of 4 (it is growing no snickerin’) yet our domain for cre8Buzz was a zero, goose egg. He hollered at me and pointed out the impact and suggested a move. But, that ain’t the end of the story. We are jammin’ trying to get cre8Buzz launched and didn’t have the development legs or time to do it. Ya know where I am going don’tcha? Yup, my boy stepped up and offered, flat out offered, to help out and refused to accept payment.
“No he didn’t!”; your thinking.
I ain’t lying, he wouldn’t take my money. It wasn’t about gittin’ paid! Ya just don’t see this anymore. My boy K-, moved us to Wordpress, designed the template, added new plugins, set up the new feeds, and did his best to edumacate my sorry butt along the way. K, put in some work for The Antman and did out of the graciousness of his heart. I ain’t gittin’ soft on ya’ll BUT, I know when I see good and my boy K- is good. K- set up cre8Buzz and the Antman large. Thanks Kevin!
I know all ya’ll have a some similar story. Let me hear it. We need to let the world know that Web 2.0 is more than a bunch of fat a_ _ perverts sittin’ in dark rooms lookin’ to pounce. What is it really? It is the re-birth of what many of us remember; a world were people communicate (by the fence post, at the barbership/hairsaloon, or on the corner) regularly. It is a place where trust has a greater foothold, where people genuinely want to help and a place where the benjamins are not the only motivation. It just comes in a different package, it is called the Web.
Hey ya’ll give my K- a little love at Quartz Mountain Commincations and tell him Antman says he is all that!
Now I ain’t playing. I want to hear ya’lls stories. Git writtin’

The new duds look great!
Hey, the web will never leave a sour taste in my mouth - it’s where I met my husband back in 1998. In a good ‘ole fashioned chat room when online hookups were big no-no’s.

Antman…too funny, I found Kevin and Quartz Mountain a few weeks back and immediately recognized his talent! By the way, thanks for stopping by GirlPaint (I’m glad you liked my paintings!). All links to cre8buzz have been updated, by the by, to your new ‘address.’ See you soon. Until then, be seen…be heard…be cool.

Antman, long time since I have been around, I do apologize for that. Things have been a little crazy in my part of the woods. I am super stoked that someone would help you out like that and refuse to take money. It is a rare thing to find someone that is genuine, and your man Kevin sounds like he is. He needs more love. As far as 2.0, I htink you are right. People are capitalizing on all of hte negative, leaving moms scared that their children will be victims of some perverts. The thing that I like about 2.0, however, is that the community drives what is good and bad content and the bad content will get forced out, of course assuming that people are generally good. But as you illustrate, I think people are, look at Kevin! Keep up the great work, we all appreciate what you do.
