I just got back from Blood Diamond, Leonardo DiCapriao, Jennifer Connelly and Djimon Hounsou. Simply put it is about the dark side of the diamond smuggling business. 100’s of millions of dollars come from diamonds harvested in "conflict" areas where people are murdered and tortured. It is unbelievable, the level of hell people of these nations have suffered while warlords, rebels, smugglers, and corrupt governments battle for control of this precious resource. What does this have to do with anything? Exposure man, I don’t know about you but I had no idea this was even happening. Millions of people have been raped, murdered, maimed and forced to work (modern slavery) as a result of the illegal diamond trade and "conflict diamonds". Bling, Bling shouldn’t cost so much! Where there is exposure good things happen, where things are allowed to lurk in corners, concealed by the dark evil festers. It is all about shining the light. Boy do I feel good I got my wife a CZ (cubic zurconia)
Oh yea, the movie IS great too.
