Another win for the Long Tail!

Yahoo and Rueters have decided to showcase photographs submitted by the public. These pictures will find themselves on Yahoo news, and Reuters as well as in offline print mediums. With millions of people around the world carrying a digital camera it makes us wonder why it took them so long. Deep Jive Interests Blog by Tony Hung said it best, "another nail in the coffin of photos journalists"
Our megaphone is getting bigger. And yes the quality of photography is now better! Why, because we have just introduced millions more competitors. Images will be evaluted by the image not who took the image. The "who" no longer matters. Photo journalist is no longer a ticket to play, just an expertise providing competitive advantage.
cre8Buzz says bring it on! Why do we love the idea so much? Because it is going to highlite previous unseen, unkown talented photographers. Everyone gets to play! Yes, the average joe non photographer guy who gets lucky with one picutre will get his day in the sun, but the power of this move is it levels the playing field for committed artists who are looking for that big break. The barriers have been removed, what quirky, adventurous, brazen, unique, photographer(s) has society missed. Miss no more, everyone gets to play. Let the party begin!
. . .now where did I leave my camera?
