This is an excerpt from a post today at my site. It particularily pertains to many of the ‘friends’ I have met over here at Cre8buzz- so I thought I’d share.
I have been “officially” tagged for the first time. It was Tiffany at Stuck in the Sticks. As I was retrieving the link from her place, I realized that I don’t know her name- she is “stuck in the sticks” to me… sorry- Tiffany, I know it now! That got me thinking… there’s another little odd aspect of this blogosphere- names.
You have the name of your blog, the name you use when you comment (username, huh?), and then you may have a different actual name.
Here, I think I’ve made all of these good friends. I look forward to their comments about my personal life. I go visit them daily to read about their ins and outs. When it comes down to it, though, some of them I know only by their alias.
I was talking to my mom the other day about the evil Japanese Beetles, and mentioned that “a friend” online and I were talking about how she deals with them. “She”, as I kept referring to her, is Bad Momma, that’s all I know. How weird would my mom thought I was if I said “Bad Momma and I were talking and…”
In terms of ‘real life’ friends… Can you imagine the phone calls? Hello, can I speak to ‘The Mom’ or ‘Mrs.4444′?
Just a little observation…

PG here. Pat really, but I get called PG in real life often too. So PG it is. Nothing fancy, just initials. Once in a while I get called AB as if my blog (Annoyingly Boring?) was my name or something. It doesn’t bother me, just a little funny.

Someone once asked me (apparently seriously) what nationality was Turnpike.

I used my name because I just couldn’t think of anything original or funny.

That is so funny! I was just thinking about this the other day. So many people call me W.O.W, short for wornoutwoman. Most know my name is Kim….but I feel like my nicknames almost as real some days with everyone referring to it for me.
Some of my favorite friends….do I know their real names? Hmmm…only about half. Great post!

From a branding standpoint - I feel it’s better to use your actual name.
Good post!
Have a DYNAMITE day!

When hubs and I met at Gateway Computers they did not let us use our real names on the phone (too many Carie’s and I am not one to give up commission to one of the others). So I was Kendall and Brad was Gannon. It was a little weird walking around the building being called a totally different name; but kind of fun to have a “separate” identity. Kind of like blogging ☺

This is really funny–I printed out a bunch of my blog posts for my mom. She was reading them again one day when my sister was at her house. Mom said, “Boy, some of these people have the most interesting names! Like that ‘Mrs.4444!’ I’d love to meet her one day!” Cracked me up when my sister told me she said, “Mom, that’s BARB!”
