Awakened by a little voice and a smile after dawn. Having just enough non expired milk to go around. Conflicts and complaints kept to a minimum. No tears. Green traffic lights parting the way like The Red Sea as you make it to your destination, on time! The sun’s glare not catching the dust and little handprints on the furniture and windows. The strength to get through without a nap. The applesauce not touching the corn. The mailbox free of junkmail and bills. A night free of practices, games, or playdates. The bliss of being done with laundry, if only for an hour, until the hamper is full again. A path clear of crayons, dolls, toy cars, and shoes on the way to the bed. Good night kisses and ”I Love You’s” from kids with heavy eyes. Peace and quiet.
So are some of my simple pleasures of parenting.

Ah, well written. Yes, I DO love that empty laundry basket… until it magically fills up within seconds. Now if I could only do that trick with my wallet. Or gas tank.

Although I have lots of laundry to sort today, I was told by the 3yo at his birthday party yesterday that I was the best mom in the world. Doesn’t get any better than that!
