My eldest son is doing this tomorrow!!
he said if he finishes in 7-8 hours he will be very pleased!! WOW..go on Pete!!!!
The event is intended for experienced cyclists, unlike shorter charity rides this is not a leisure ride and should only be attempted by reasonably fit and competent riders. The event takes place 3/4 weeks before the Tour of France Etape participation ride; the Dragon Ride offers the only compatible climbs in the southern UK, ideal as training for the Etape.
The 2008 route is a more intensified version of 07 course, with a new start/finish venue at Pencoed College, this avoids the lengthy run out through Port Talbot and all the traffic lights on the return to Bridgend. Still included are two ascent of the Bwlch mountain road, however this year they are in different directions.
Ride distances are 180km (Gran Fondo) and 120km for the Medio Fondo.

Wow! Best of luck to Pete - and endurance! That sounds like one grueling ride - but quite an accomplishment! Can’t wait to hear how he does!

7-8 hours on a bike…ouch…there’s no way that I could ever…ever…I mean…ever…do that.
Good luck to your son.
