With the heat come the perfect opportunity for the food of the gods, ice cream! What better than a big bowl to cool you off on a hot May day? So dig out your ice cream maker or if you don’t have one get to your nearest department store and get you one because nothing is better than homemade ice cream!

  • 1/3 cup HERSHEY®’S Cocoa Powder
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup light cream
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
DIRECTIONS

  1. In medium saucepan, stir together sweetened condensed milk and cocoa. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until mixture is smooth and slightly thickened, about 10 minutes. Remove from heat; cool slightly.
  2. Gradually add whipping cream, light cream and vanilla, beating with whisk until well blended; refrigerate until cold.
  3. Place in ice cream freezer container. Freeze according to manufacturer’s instructions.

Oooh… daughter has an ice cream maker; I must dig it out.

However, hubby served me chocolate ice cream with cherries on top tonight! It was heavenly.

Thanks for the recipe; I just may need it!

After reading this last night, I did take your advice last night and had ice cream, but I took the easy way out. Baskin Robbins Banana Split with Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Pralines and Cream, and Heath Bar ice creams. Add extra marshmellow topping along with hot fudge, whipped cream, nuts, sprinkles and cherries. It made a mess but was good.
