I took the kids out for an Earth Day adventure to the creek and hiking trails. Found some trash, skipped some rocks, played with seaweed, picked up some little shells, stopped and smelled the flowers, talked about the Earth, and snapped this little froggy making his way back to the water…

Larger version here.

That’s one of the funniest photos I’ve taken this year (besides the ones of my hilarious kids) and I’m glad I threw the camera into rapid fire as soon as my son spotted him jumping. I wasn’t sure if I even got a shot of him until I got home and looked through the photos. He was fast! (I assume it was a boy froggy) I had to crop the heck out of this one to make him show up clearly. He was a baby frog so we searched for more and some tadpoles in the water. Reminded me of my days as a kid growing up across the street from a big creek where we spent most of our days.

No, you got it. It was a very young frog and he was a fast little hopper!

Your last line brought back my own growing up memories of exploring the small creek by our house. Though for a true frog hunting adventure, we had to scale a fence and go down into the sumps. Great pic.

I wonder why frogs look like that when they jump? It’s like a swan dive, but not. Weird!
QJ rocks!
