Brilliant Women
September 18, 2007 15:19

I just updated my blogroll. I started my public blog about a month and a half ago, and I only read one other blog at the time. Then I started reading a few others, then I got my coveted invite here (thanks Brillig). Since then, I've gone from 3 blogs on my feed to 23.

Every single person on my feed is brilliant and compelling and interesting. I feel lucky and pleased to have found them and particularly glad to have found so many here on Cre8buzz. I think we all deserve book contracts.

That's really all I had to share. But I wanted to and so I did!

Yes, there are some really amazing women out there blogging. I think one thing that really opened my eyes is the vast spectrum of "conservative" people out there. It's so easy, for both liberal and conservatives, to hold onto the stereotype of their counterpart especially when your only reference to your opposite is whatever cable program you watch or in-laws and what-not. I've read so many wonderful blogs and LEARNED from them even though I may disagree with some political and social ideals that they have. It's made me less ignorant and more tolerant and as Ms. Martha Stewart would say, that's a good thing.

PPD- I totally agree with you on the 'less ignorant more tolerant' statement. I think that's the biggest thing that blogging has done for me. As I read about other women (I read maybe two bloggers that are men) it just amazes me how different we can be in so many ways- but how I can learn from their lives. I'm pretty moderate politically in a lot of ways- but the more I read liberal blogs the more I can see their point of view. The same with conservative blogs. I think that seeing where someone is coming from and understanding it- even if I disagree is like you say, a good thing.

I feel the same way too! I am blown away by the depth and diversity of the women who are populating blogland. I feel a kinship or a sisterhood with them (you) that I didn't expect, and I love that. I am learning so many different ways of thinking, and being, and find myself thinking about my cyber friends often throughout the day. This community is a wonderful addition to my day.

I couldn't agree with you ladies more. It is always a wonderful thing to see other people's perspectives. One of my favorite tag lines is "If only closed minds came with closed mouths." The more different perspectives one encounters the more tolerant people can be. One just needs to listen to understand sometimes. The blog-o-sphere is a great place to get differing perspectives from intelligent and well written people.
