I just logged in tonight and some people's pictures are framed in red. What's that about?

Looks like they're working on some new color-coding system. I was wondering the same thing. I'm sure they'll let us in on the secret once it's all up and running. Maybe it has something to do with friends? Or contacts? Or people you've invited? All of the above?
