I wonder who in your house does the chores?
Laundry
Cooking
General Cleaning
Grocery Shopping
I know the stereotype is for the woman to cook and clean but it is not really accurate anymore. With stay at home dads and both parents working I wonder where the chores fit in?
For me it is:
Laundry - wife does more of it, but she also lets it pile up. I end up doing a lot of it when it gets out of hand...but I hate folding.
Cooking - Me, my wife can't cook
General Cleaning - Our house is always a mess...we straighten up, not clean.
Groceries - I do a better job, buying more for less.
We both work, I work 4 10 hour days and she has been teaching part time now for the past few years so we both get to spend more time at home then the average two income family. Although my 4 10's can sometime cause me to be a ghost on my workdays.
Laundry- Me. The basement is my domain and if I dont do the laundry the entire basement is miles of clothes piles.
Cooking- Her. The best!
Grocery- Last time I went shopping I bought 3 bags of White Fish because they were on sale. That was 2001.
Cleaning- Her Dusting, Floors, Pledge, Windex.
Cleaning- Me Declutter, Vacum, straighten up, Whole House organization.
Garbage- Me. Dont underestimate the importance of the guy that takes out the trash! Ever bring it out before you go to work and come home to a full "over the brim" garbage recepticle? Where does all that trash come from?!!
I stay home, so most of the chores fall in my lap. Mr. B is getting big enough to start "helping", so I'm getting him in the groove with that.
Laundry: Me mostly, wife helps out
Cooking: Me, but I enjoy it most of the time so it reaaly isn't a chore to me. (MIL just doesn't understand that)
Grocery: Me, wife hates it and I love food.
Cleaning: Whoever gets fed up first.
Dishes: Wife cleans, Mr. B and I unload.
Outside: One of the requirements for getting a house with as much yard as we do, she would mow the lawn. That lasted until we had Mr. B, now I mow most of the time.
I wonder about the trash thing too. I'm always the one taking the bags out, and they're invariably full anytime I ever need to throw something away. It's amazing.
She does the cleaning and the laundry, though we rope the kids into helping out as much as possible since they're little Tazmanian Devils, swirling around and generating clutter as they move from room to room.
I do most of the cooking, and we both like it that way. I usually do the shopping too because it's just more convenient for me with my schedule. She's better at getting the bargains though.
The rest of it we divide up pretty evenly I think.
Sigh. You sound like you've got it pretty good. I do, well, almost everything. When I get completely backed up on laundry or whatnot, Working Mom will pitch in, and she does cook from time to time, but mostly. It's. Me.
Which would be better if I didn't have a lot of "repair and install" kinds of things to do on the house we just moved into, too.
