What did you say you'd never do before you had kids only to find yourself doing them once you had them?
I said that I would never forget to shower/brush my teeth/brush my hair.
I said that I would never wipe a babies nose with my bare hands.
I said that I would never use spit on a tissue to clean a dirty face.
Actually before I had kids... I said I'd never have kids. And I was damn militant about that too. When I changed my mind on that I decided there was no point in having any more 'nevers'.
DH said we'd never use TV as a babysitter.
I thought I'd never let her sleep in things like swings, rockers or prams, but now they're the only places she will sleep during the day.
I also said I wouldn't formula feed - what a joke that ended up being.
I said I would never let them watch as much TV as they do.
I said I would never let them use a pacifier.
I said I wouldn't have children until I was over 30 (I had them 2 weeks before my 30th birthday, after struggling with unexplained IF for 2 years).
I said I would never let kids get in the way of my dreams (little did I know that they were all I've been dreaming of).
I said I'd never say "because I said so, that's why!" The first three year old who had more whys than I had answers cured me of that.
Ummm... pretty much everything you all said...
Also, I said I'd never "put up with that type of behavior...." And sometimes I do. It's just easier to pick my battles...
Use a pacifier was a biggie for me! And I did!
I said I wouldn't let them watch tv until they were in kindergarten (hahahaha).
I said would never have the nerve to nurse in public (with my son I was pretty much always nursing in public!)
I said I would never be able to handle being vomited on. (that's nothing!)
I said I'd never let kids make me change my ways. We were going to keep going out to the restaurants we liked, keep taking evening walks, keep going to friend's houses for dinners etc... Ha! Now people eat here so we can put the kids to bed, we take our walks one at a time, and the only restaurants we go to have paper place mats and crayons.
