I have now been blogging for 1 year along with running a sucessful Real Estate Company. I enjoy blogging and have made good contacts but would like to take it to the next level and possiably make a couple of dollars along the way.Can the novice blogger actually make money, or is it just a pipe dream which the "Make big bucks blogging" guys are using for their own marketing purposes?
Schmoozer - I blog to drive traffic to my web sites and blogs, in hopes it will attract buyers and sellers of real estate in my area. I also use blog to offer-up my opinions, and dump out my brain. I have no idea if I can pin-point any cash flow amounts. But, I did have a high end listing find one of my blogs....and they hired me. I have only been blogging for 6 months, so don't have much data to offer you. I recently joined here, started on Active Rain, and now have a Wordpress also.
Schmoozer,
It is about like wanting to play in the NBA or the NFL. If you have a successful Real Estate Company then you should probably make that your focus.
Keep honing your skills as a blogger. Increasing your traffic and clients. You stand a better chance of "making big bucks" in real estate than in blogging.
If there is a time for you to make "big bucks" blogging, you will know it. First will come recognition as an RE blogger and invitations to participate on panels or speak at groups. More traffic to your site where you have 1000 or more daily readers in your stats.
You are spending more time writing, speaking, and blogging. You make as much or more coaching and blogging than you do in your Real Estate business, Then you might want to sell the business and continue a new carrier "Blogging for Dollars."
In the meantime, enjoy the writing, sharpen your skills, network with bloggers, and read, read, read. Become an authority, with a voice of your own and the worst that can happen is you will sell a lot more real estate.
