Adding Video Files
November 22, 2007 23:08

I've tried a couple of different types of file uploads from wmv. to mp4 and flv. They all look terrible on this site.

What is the best dimension, file type, program to generate video files that will look like something you can actual view?

Dave- I have no idea. Best to check out others profiles and see if they have video up and running...then email and ask them. You will probably get some techy answers.

Dave - I got a youtube video working fine on my profile here. Check it out, you can view the html source and just put yours in instead. Hope that helps! :-)

bandersohn,

Those look good, but what I'm after are the setting for encoding my own videos, not just importing existing YouTube files.

I'm generating wmv files using Photostory 3 and changing them to mp4 files. They look "okay" on screen, but when they are uploaded . . .

So, I'm looking for settings to encode video files and have them look sharp and in focus instead of like they were taken with a pinhole video camera.

Chris,

Two things, to view the HTML, you right click his profile page and "View Source" in IE or "View Page Source" in FireFox. But that's not really what you want to know.

Create a video. Submit it to your YouTube account "Upload"

Once it is generated you will see a place in the righthand navigation where you can copy and embed the video on a website or blog.

Copy that text into your profile theme and change the width settings so it doesn't overrun the column in your profile page and save your theme.

I'll try and put a post up with more details on the process. Now if we could just get videos we upload to our profile pages video gallery to look as good as the ones we can put on our profile page by embedding the YouTube code we will have something worth looking at. Till then if you want to have something that looks good, you have to:

Create it Upload it to YouTube Embed the code in your profile

Hope this helps.

Thanks Dave! Maybe I will have time soon to start working on this also. I will watch all your posts too.
