Going off of Jackal's forum topic, I'm throwing this one out--what are your favorite tricks for overcoming writer's block? (Assuming you ever experience it. If you don't, why do you think you don't?)
Rereading definitely helps. Sometimes reading another book. Or taking a break from writing and going about daily things... then it will hit me. To keep the pace as I write, I'll put on some upbeat music and essentially "keep time" as I write.
Setting a timer is what works for me, thus MAKING myself writer something. reading another good book helps too and watching some of my favoritest movies.
I skip past that part and write out something that might be ahead in the story that is a bit more exciting.
Or I start writing from a different person's point of view. It isn't long before I get some new ideas by looking at it in another perspective. It's my favourite way of beating writer's block because it also helps me get to know other characters better.
Also, listening to music helps me a lot, particularly if it fits into the mood of that point in the story.
